Awards and disciplinary measures

1 University awards

Okayama University has the following award systems.


Okayama University Kokusho Award

Okayama University Kokusho Award was established in memory of Iwao Kokusho, who made a great contribution in the founding of Okayama University. We confer this award on excellent undergraduate students, both for academic achievements and integrity upon recommendation by each dean.

The Kanemitsu Award

The Kanemitsu Award was established with a donation from the late Tomio Kanemitsu, a graduate of the second cohort of Okayama University. The award is given to undergraduate students with outstanding academic achievements and experience in international activities, as well as graduate and doctoral students who have made outstanding research achievements. In principle, one person from each faculty and graduate school is nominated and selected to receive an award certificate and a monetary prize.

Okayama University Student Sports Award

We award individuals or groups who are acknowledged to have achieved excellent performance or activity results in students’ extracurricular sports activities.

Okayama University Cultural Incentive Award

We award individuals or groups who are recognized to have performed excellent achievements in extracurricular cultural activities.

Award for a student awarded the prize from an Academic Conference

It has established to celebrate a student awarded from an Academic Conference. Both applications recommended by the supervisor and student's self appointed will be accepted.

2 Disciplinary measures

It goes without saying that any criminal or dishonest conduct (that a student commits) is subject to legal action, as is the case with ordinary members of society. However, the university will also take disciplinary action from a separate educational perspective.


Types of disciplinary action

(i) Expulsion: loss of student status
(ii) Suspension: suspension from attending school for a certain period of time
(iii) Admonition: giving a written warning to the student to warn them against future misconduct

Traffic accidents and violations Traffic accidents resulting in death or severe permanent injury caused by malicious behavior such as unlicensed driving, drunk driving, or reckless driving.      
Traffic accidents involving personal injury due to malicious behavior such as drunk driving or reckless driving  
The violation of traffic laws through actions, such as drunk driving or reckless driving  
Alcohol drinking Forcing someone to drink alcohol, leading to their death  
Forcing someone to drink alcohol and causing harm, such as acute alcohol poisoning
